Beausejour's Claudia Parrott Among Top 8

Catriona Le May Doan Encourages Canadians to Vote for Country's Best Speed Skating Story
Beausejour's Claudia Parrott Among Top 8 for National Voting in Third Annual Intact Speed Skating Challenge
Calgary, Alberta - Head Judge Catriona Le May Doan and a select group of
Guest Judges including Kristina Groves, Charles Hamelin, Denny Morrison,
Jeremy Wotherspoon, Kalyna Roberge and Jessica Gregg, have narrowed their search for Canada's best speed skating story to the Top 8.
Now it's Canada's turn.
Among the Top 8 finalists is Claudia Parrott representing the Eastman Speed
Skating Club in Beausejour, MB. This enthusiastic young cousin of a 2010
Olympic medal hopeful has a natural affinity for the sport of speed skating and
she's learning that dedication, persistence, hard work and non-sugared cereals
will help her reach her goals in Claudia's Story.
To view Claudia's video, visit http://www.IntactSpeedskatingChallenge.com.
With the introduction of this year's theme - "Who Inspires You to Go Beyond" -skaters from coast to coast are announcing their coaches, family members and even some of Canada's national team are their sources of inspiration.
For Catriona, the Intact Speed Skating Challenge isn't a competition to find the best young speed skater in Canada. More importantly, it's about finding the best speed skating stories and experiences that kids have to share.
When we launched the Intact Speed Skating Challenge, the goal was to give
young skaters in communities across Canada a voice  a way of telling the rest
of the country why they love the sport. And they've really responded to the
challenge. The quality of our Top 8 is amazing, said Catriona.
Beginning February 8, 2010, Canadians are encouraged to view the Top 8 and vote for their favorite video stories at http://www.IntactSpeedskatingChallenge.com.
Round 1 voting will end Sunday February 21, 2010, 12:00AM MST.
The winner will be crowned on March 21, 2010 at the Intact Video Awards Party during the season's final weekend of competition at the Intact Finale at the Olympic Oval in Calgary.
